During my last trip to KL, I did notice that most Sarawakian will bring Gardenia Bun as a gift and proof for their visit to KL. As we know, there`s no product of Gardenia Bun at Sarawak and very unique to some of the local here. For Peninsular Malaysia, it was very common to them and they can have it for everyday!
The best part-Some of the grocery shop at KL will notice us from East Malaysia from the quantity of Gardenia Bun we bought.
“..banyak beli, dari Sarawak ka..?”-So, this dialogue usually can be heard.
Selain daripada itu, pernah juga saya ternampak produk hampir sama seperti Gardenia Bun. Saya pun dah terlupa jenama roti tersebut tetapi cara bungkusan adalah hampir sama seperti Gardenia Bun. Memandangkan permintaan untuk Gardenia Bun adalah tinggi di negeri Sarawak, jadi ada yang business minded ni cuba untuk manupulasi pasaran di Sarawak.
Berikut adalah harga Gardenia Bun yang pernah dijual di bandar Miri,Sarawak:
1. Merdeka Mall, Ta Kiong-RM1.70
2. Shin Liang Supermarket-RM1.70
Who dare to buy the product if the selling price as above? Originally the price of Gardenia Bun was RM0.60 only.
